Eight years ago on August 25th, 2001, R&B American Sweetheart, Aaliyah, died in a tragic plane crash on her way back from the Bahamas after filming “Rock Boat”. Aaliyah was flat out an R&B legend in the making, but her journey down that path was cut short due to the tragedy. Known for her soft but distinctive vocals, Aaliyah wooed her way into the hearts of every R&B advocate across the world. Her career dons 5 Grammy nominations, 6 VMA nominations, in which she won one for Best Female Video and another Best Video from a Film for her song, “Try Again”.
