Celebrities sell! Nowadays you can't open a magazine or watch a TV commercial without spotting a celebrity promoting a "hot new product". Many look up to them and brands like L'Oreal, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc. understand that if they want to boost the sell of their product they need to use a celebrity and target their fan base. Many fans already wonder what Beyonce uses for her skin or hair, or what Eva Longoria uses to look so great.

In the nineties most brands would mainly use topmodels for their ad campaigns such as claudia Sschiffer, Naomi Campbell or Linda Evangelista. Since that the public has showed their preference for actresses and singers as they are more in the public eye and their fans are already curious about what fashion brands they wear, which products they use etc.
